Light Around the Bend

Image
Light Around the Bend, by Bobby Braswell I did not get here in a day And I do not wish to turn back Along the path I know what was there Let's see instead What's around the next bend There's light to take me there

Low hanging fruit

Image
Low Hanging Fruit, By Bobby Braswell Be sure to go after  That low hanging fruit The path packed hard The other's view moot The voice of your neighbor A far off cry The quest to be known A withering sigh But being so right It's curious why The strictures of being Still calcify

Open Your Eyes

Image
Open Your Eyes In darkness of night my eyes closed, Weary, tired, trembling and lost, Afraid of facing another day, Of what it might cost. Filled with hopelessness I cried out, Against shadows of doubts everywhere, As troubles danced around my bed, And I tossed and turned in despair. But, then I heard a calm, sweet voice, Whispering through the lonely night, Open your eyes, my precious child, And step into My peaceful light! Don’t be afraid of the darkness, For it, too, belongs to Me, Just open your eyes, my child, And My eternal light you will see. A Promise Kept

Image
A Promise Kept, by Deborah Bennett A winter’s night, a breeze so light, A summer day, a sun so bright, The moon so far, a twinkling star, Love begins. A loving hand, a golden band, A pledge forever, nothing can sever, Man and wife, together for life, Two become one. A child’s smile, a toy pile, A warm bed, prayers said, Peaceful sleep, memories to keep, A family is born. A church filled, a life stilled, Hearts break, the soul awakes, Death defeated, eternity greeted, God’s promise kept! The Great Physician

Image
The Great Physician, by Eric Green The sanguine song is fading and all hope is cast away The malady afflicting me grows stronger everyday And I would acquiesce but for the fawning crowd that sings Of one who comes with healing in his wings The beast of burden under me begrudges not his chore The load that he is shouldering is lighter than before He knows the way so I can rest my eyes until I hear The murmuring that tells me we are near A crowd preventing progress in the middle of the street The ones that know me lift me from my mount and to my feet Unsteady knees that bear me to the voice that guarantees The end of all disorder and disease The one that I've been waiting for, the one who will impart The long-expected consolation of my yearning heart He bids me come and hazard faith upon his remedy One that he took great pains for us to see A portmanteau of miracles lies open to behold A singular elixir filled with mysteries untol...

The Days of Ecclesiastes

Gum chewed flavorless Chasing but never catching the wind Solomon-like sans numberless concubines and palaces Toiling under the sun
